The Certified Healthcare Engineer (CHE) program, developed by the Florida Healthcare Engineering Association (FHEA), recognizes professionals who demonstrate excellence in healthcare facility engineering and management.

Established in 1980, the CHE designation sets the standard for professional achievement, technical expertise, and ongoing commitment to the healthcare engineering field.

Certification Requirements
The CHE application is based on a point system, allowing applicants to qualify through a combination of:

All applicants must provide documentation to support their qualifications.

Required: 
Attendance at a minimum of 50% of FHEA district meetings in the previous calendar year (no substitutions permitted).
Certification is awarded for the calendar year and must be renewed annually.

Renewal Options

Professionals who hold one of the following certifications may complete a streamlined renewal process:

· CHFM (Certified Healthcare Facility Manager)
· CHC (Certified Healthcare Constructor)
· CHSP (Certified Healthcare Safety Professional)

Documentation
Applicants are required to submit supporting documentation, such as:
· Meeting attendance records
· Certificates of completion (seminars, courses, workshops)
· Licenses and certifications
· Academic transcripts or degrees
